Once again we are about to hit another big milestone of our married lives. Todd will be graduating from BYU with his Masters in Business Administration. The last two years have been incredible to say the least and we have all grown a ton. Together and individually in so many ways. We'll start at the bottom...
Calvin grew. Well I guess
I grew
him haha. But nonetheless he grew and joined our family almost a year ago. And over the last year he has made all sorts of baby accomplishments. Rolling over, sitting, crawling, furniture walking, standing, downward dogging, and he's so close to walking on his own! He's an adorable little guy and loves to be a little copycat. From singing to stretching to clapping. It's hilarious.
Peter turned 2 right after we moved here for the program. Crazy. In the last two years he potty trained, added about a million words to his vocabulary, grew a foot (at least), and mastered the art form of dangerous wiggle-car driving. He has made lots of great friends in our ward and MBASA that he'll remember forever. He loves to tell jokes, throw parties, and ask awkward questions haha.
As for me... I definitely kept myself busy these last couple of years. I had my hands pretty full between serving in the primary in our ward, having a baby, and heading up the service committee with MBASA. But it all went well and Todd was extremely supportive. I felt like I did all that I could to have a good experience while we were here. I've also made lasting friendships and I can't believe our time here in Provo is already over.
We all learned a lot but Todd learned the most hard stuff for sure. And not just hard MBA class stuff but he figured out where he wants his career to end up... and that's a hard thing to figure out! I don't remember how the conversation went down but within the first month of the program Todd decided to look into also getting a PhD in business, not just an MBA. He did unheard of amounts of research on different programs and professors, he researched with professors at BYU to get experience and to narrow his interests, he got up at 5am morning after morning to work on applications for an entire semester. He put a
lot of effort into preparing to get a PhD. He even formatted his schedule, classes, and study habits to prepare himself for what could be ahead. Applications went in in December last year. The "no" emails came, the "yes" phone calls came too... and by the beginning of March we knew where our family would be spending the next five (yes, 5) years for Todd's PhD in Business Strategy.
We'll be headed to North Carolina to attend The Fuqua School of Business at Duke University! We're very excited... and very nervous. We've heard wonderful things about the area, we've had tons of help with housing (etc.) from people in the wards there, and we've been told many times that we
have to visit the outer banks and we
have to drink Cheerwine. I'm sure there are many more great things we'll discover. (:
Anyhow... it goes without saying that I am so incredibly proud of Todd. He told me once that getting a PhD seemed like something that would be really hard to do and that he felt like that meant he should probably do it. And so here we are headed to Duke this fall! It's going to be quite the adventure!
