One week and one day ago our family got a big surprise. Well not that big... 6 lbs, 4 oz of a surprise. At only 36 1/2 weeks gestation baby brother decided things were a little too cramped inside his momma. And so with the nick of a toe nail he broke my water and took his sweet time coming into this world.
You would think that after 36 1/2 weeks I would at least feel prepared to have a baby. But no. I had so many things left on my pre-baby to-do list. I was going to spend the month really bonding with Peter before totally throwing his toddler world up-side down. We were going to clean and organize and at least set up the bassinet. We were going to pick a name! Haha an important one. But all of those things got put on hold when my water broke at 6:00pm on Thursday, April 23rd. Instead of sometime mid-May.
Fast forward through a long and bum-kicking labor, a bunch of visitors, a 24-hour date with the photo-therapy bed, and too many heel pricks and here we are... a week and a day later. One week in to the "hardest two weeks" but honestly, it's been quite nice! Our sweet baby Calvin is doing wonderful! He's just a tiny guy but he loves eating and and he loves sleeping. And he's good at it! Phew. Two things that made me nearly insane during Peter's first couple of weeks... 'cause he wasn't that great at either. It's also probably something about going from one to two kids... much less punch-in-the-face than going from none to one kid. Seriously, it has been so much easier.
Anyhow... we are absolutely loving having this wee little man in our home. His little squeaks and big cuddles just do us all in again and again, day after day.
Hooray!!! YES, I totally agree. Zero to one was much harder emotionally/mentally for me than one to two, cause I was already used to being a mom! Congrats on the cutie!
